Basic question on PRI and T1 ports

Hi, a basic question:

a) Imagine a router has WIC 2 T1 ports. By default, are those ports OK to receive voice PRIs? Or do I need to install VWIC in order to make such ports process voice PRIs?

Originally there was a WIC for WANs and a VIC for Voice. Cisco later combined them, so yes, you do need the VWIC version.

VWIC2 was designed for ISR G1 routers. VWIC3 was designed for ISR G2 routers. VWIC2s will still work in ISR G2s as well though.

Don't forget your DSP resourses too. You need to enter the number of utilisied ISDN channels in the 'Low Complexity' textbox: -
