Hi,
if one third party device totally doesn't support bfd(can't understand bfd such as some firewall), Can I just config bfd only at cisco nexus switch side. such as bfd echo feature.
but i delete bfd config one side of cisco router, the other side bfd( on nexus switch support bfd echo) is down , and static route disappear.
I think bfd echo feature is not kind of one-arm-echo bfd, how can I config bfd just on only one side and the other device totally doesn't support bfd?
thank you
Tom

BFD is same as IP SLA but it fast
here since one side dont support BFD then you can use IP SLA instead and only make sure that the FW response to ICMP ping
what is also different between BFD and IP SLA
BFD can use directly under IGP protcol
IP SLA need EEM to use with IGP, the EEM detect IP SLA status and action is delete neighbor under IGP

and by the way what is your FW platform ? it can support BFD but you dont know how you config it, since BFD is now standard in many vendors

Hi,MHM,
Thank you!
I understand, I check ietf mailling list, there is a draftbfd-unaffiliated-echo, it seemed violate rfc5880.
I can't config bfd on other side, because it is not our customer's device.
So,May be need more push.
thank you
Tom
