BFD - static routes

Hi !

A static route should disappear from the RT as soon as the interface goes down.

As my device is connected via a SDH-equipment I am unable to recognize any failures within the SDH-network as the interface to the SDH-switch normally stays UP - static route will not be removed from RT

Is there a chance to use BFD to take down the interface in case BFD can not reach the other end anymore ?

thx

Hans

Hello Hans,

for your objective reliable static routing is enough:

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/12_3x/12_3xe/feature/guide/dbackupx.html

you can track the state of the ip next-hop with a reachability test (icmp probe).

Hope to help

Giuseppe
