Hello,

I would recommend you to read through "Cisco IOS BGP Configuration Guide"

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6441/products_configuration_guide_book09186a008054dd7b.html

which gives example configs for different scenarios and also explanations on the features. In addition you could read the RFC 4271, which is the current standard of BGP version 4. It is quite readable and gives "the final answer" on how BGPv4 works.
