also go through BGP case studies which is really excellent

I agree with Sean. Quite well written too as I recall. I just setup some of the more basic examples myself using a few routers, so Local Pref, Weight and MED attributes. Maybe AS-Prepend too. It's all important in understanding how these attributes work and the AS / direciton in which they are applied to neighborships. BGP is a nice protocol - more intuitive than some of the IGPs IMO. Good luck.
