BGP route issue

I have two sites connect to an MPLS network through two different POPS  POP C and POP D

Site A redistributes a static route pointing to a vendor router at that location

Site B redistributes a static route pointing to a vendor router at that location.

Both routes are for the same network.

Site A example   192.168.1.1  255.255.255.0 is routing to 192.168.2.1  (connects to POP C)

Site B example   192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 is routing to 192.168.3.1  (connects to POP D)

After temporary shutdown of Site B, all locations have Site A static route.

We believe that sites connecting to POP C should route to Site A  and sites connecting to POP D should route to Site B

How do  I get site that connect to POP D route to site B?

Hope this makes sense

Thanks

Hello Thom,

what kind of service are you getting?

a L3 MPLS VPN or a L2 VPN ?

Do your routers peer with service provider PE nodes or directly between themselves?

If it is a L2 MPLS VPN you just need to use local preference to have site C to prefer site A route and site D to prefer site B route.

If it is a L3 MPLS VPN it is still possible but you need to use BGP communities and you need to cooperate with service provider.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
