We require to block all sorts of streaming videos from being viewed from the Internet in our network.
Please can someone advise if we need to block any specific port for this or is there any other way of doing it.
Thanks in advance.
Many streaming video applications use RTP which uses TCP/UDP ports 554. Blocking these ports should prevent most of the undesired traffic, though I believe some applications are capable of using other ports as well.
In addition , find most tcp ports used in internet services , this information comes in handy when you needed.
Most streaming video these days is tunneled through http TCP 80 making it very difficult to filter with ACLs or NBAR. Your best bet is using a proxy server with filtering capability. An example: http://www.bluecoat.com/products/sg
