Can I remove a NIM-2MFT-T1/E1 card via OIR from an ISR 4351 without shutting the router down and insert into an ISR 4331? Can I also configure Multilink PPP with the NIM on the 4331 to bond 2 T1s into a 3 Mbps Virtual link with a Multilink PPP configuration?

I've got 2 questions.

   1) Can I remove a NIM-2MFT-T1/E1 module from an ISR 4351 without shutting the router down. I believe I might have to run an OIR command to shut the module down before removing it? And I believe I can remove it without shutting the router down and interrupting any processes.

    2) Once I install this NIM into an ISR 4331, can I configure it with a Multilink PPP configuration in order to bond 2 Data T1s I want to use with the service provider to make a 3Mbps virtual link? Not sure of the different sections I need to associate between the Controller T1, Multilink PPP, and groups associated with the config?  Will a Serial Interface show up for each T1 or will I just need to associate the Multilink PPP to each Controller T1?

    Thanks in advance,

Hello,

the NIM supports OIR. Just make sure you stop the module before removing it (see the procedure below):

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/4400/hardware/installation/guide4400-4300/C4400_isr/appendix.html

PPP Multilink is supported as well:

Georg,

Thanks for the info... I've inserted the card into the 4331 router. I'm connected to the console but I don't see any Serial interfaces... will I need to tie this to a GigEthernet interface and configure MultiLink over Ethernet? How do I tie the 2 Controller T1 interfaces to an interface I can use as a "WAN" interface to terminate and connect to the provider (which will be over an IPVPN/MPLS connection to a router in the data center on the other side)?

    Thanks in advance,
