Cannot configure a voice-port on router 3945

When I try to configure a voice port (like voice-port 0/0/0:15) after doing a conf t, it gives me an error of invalid input detected. What could be wrong?

We are using a Cisco 3945. Please let me know if you need any show run/show ver outputs. We have succesfully setup 3825 and 2851 in the past.

Check controller E1 configuration.

As far I know you must configure digital interfacesbefore they will operate correctly, because the router does not know the type of network you will be using.  The type of network to which you are connecting dictates the command you use to configure your VWIC card: ds0-group for T1/E1 CAS connections or pri-group for T1/E1 CCS connections.
