Hi,

1.Do you have any host connected to Vlan 1. Without any host connected it will show down.

2.Well the first thing I would say that your bootvariable is empty. Please use the command " boot system flash sup-bootflash:s72033-pk9s-mz.122-17a.SX4.bin " and save it so that it always gets to the flash to get that file.

Another thhing that I would like to see is the config register setting on the Sup side. Please use the command " remote command switch show boot " to see the config register setting. I could be possible that your Sup doesnot have the correct settings and its going to rommon mode. You can also use command " remote login switch " to telnet into the switch and then run the same command.

HTH,

Thanks for your reply amit,

1. I have a win2k server connected to it but its still down. Cant seem to figure out why.

The details you've requested is here...

c6509#remote command switch show boot

BOOT variable = bootflash:s72033-pk9s-mz.122-17a.SX.bin,1

CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist

BOOTLDR variable =

Configuration register is 0x2102

==========================

However after adding system flash sup-bootflash:s72033-pk9s-mz.122-17a.SX4.bin , it still goes to rmonn 1>

I have to manually issue "boot" at the rmonn 1>

* This switch lost its configurations and settings previously. Nobody know what happened since it was left unattended for 2 months..

I really appreciate your assistance. Thanks again.

Something that i missed out..

Hi,

Autoboot executing command: "boot bootflash:s72033-pk9s-mz.122-17a.SX.bin"

Did you see that line...switch is booting up with the wrong path..its looking the file in router's flash and its not there as the file is on the supervisor engine's flash.

See that you are in supervisor engine's rommon..

Please check the config-register settings for the Sup engine.

Please forward me the output of " remote command switch show version " and " remote command switch show bootvar "

Please paste the output og command "set" when you are in rommon.

tQ.

Hi,

I checked all the necessary settings and it seems to be fine. However the problem, is in the way your boot path has been added. Now what you do :

1. If you are on enable prompt, go to config t

(Config)#no boot system flash bootflash:

wr mem

(config)# boot system flash:sup-bootlfash:

wr mem

or 2. in rommon mode do :

rommon1> BOOT= >after this do not type anyhting it should be blank and press enter.

rommon2> sync

rommon3> BOOT:=sup-bootflash:

rommon4>sync

rommon5>boot

try this and let me know.

-amit singh

Thanks alot. It works. No more rmonn prompt, but the vlan1 is still down. Any suggestion? I other switches connected to it & the interfaces are up. Even the Gi interface where win2k server connected is up. VLAN 1 is still down.

Any suggestions?

tQ

Hi,

Please paste the output of show int vlan 1, show run, show vlan.

Thanks
