HI

can anyone tell where we use CatOS and why ?

i know only about Cisco IOS.

Hi, CatOS is an old eol layer 2 operating system used befor IOS.

In my opinion there is no reason to use catos today. It's not suppored from a lot of devices.

so now a days cisco doesn't release the catos devices right ?.

Yes, CatOS is in end of life:

2008 was the last year of selling for CatOS.

 

Probably you can find some old CatOS device on the market of used/refurbished devices.

The reason why they're still there is because they don't have the funds to upgrade them.
