CCNA Recertify

Hello,

Will passing just the 210-250 SECFND exam renew my CCNA Routing and Switching certification? I do plan on also passing the 210-255 SECOPS exam so that I can get the CCNA Cyber Ops certification, but I probably won't have time to take both exams before my CCNA Routing and Switching certification expires.

Thanks!

No, that Exam will not be sufficient:

Recertification

CCNA Routing and Switching certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:

  • Pass any current Associate-level exam except for the ICND1 exam or

  • Pass any current 642-XXX Professional-level or any 300-XXX Professional-level exam, or

  • Pass any current 642-XXX Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams or MeetingPlace Specialist exams, Implementing Cisco TelePresence Installations (ITI) exams, Cisco Leading Virtual Classroom Instruction exams, or any 650 online exams), or

  • Pass any current CCIE Written Exam, or

  • Pass the current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam, or

  • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications.

Why doesn't passing the 210-250 SECFND exam meet the first criteria of passing any current Associate-level exam except for the ICND1 exam?

After reading it again (and again), yes, you could be right but I'm not sure. My understanding of the term "associate-level exam" in the context of recertification was that it has to be an exam that gives you the Associate-level certification. And that is not achieved with 210-250. Hopefully, someone else can shed some more light on this specific one.

It is ambiguous what qualifies as an Associate level exam and this community is not the best place to look for that answer. I suggest that you try the Certification support site as a better place to get that question answered
