I have 1711 router connected to internet on 128Kbps. Recently we upgraded our line to 512K. After that i couldnot connect to the internet. Do i need to change anything in the router, like specify the 512k bandwidth, what are the commands

did you change the ISP
did the ISP change any of his DNS server IP for you
then you need to do the changes in the router.
usually the ISP may change the IP address and the DNS server IPs when you upgrade so please check with them first before doing any changes in the router.
there is no need for you to put any bandwidth command for now.

Normally you should not need to change anything. The bandwidth command affects the calculations for routing protocols and traffic management, but should not affect the basic running of the router.
How are you connecting the line into the 1711 router? Is it through the fixed Ethernet port? I see that the 1711 does not have any WAN ports except the analog modem.
Could you do a show int for the Internet interface on the router and post the results?

No i havent change the ISP and i am sure they have not changed any DNS. I can ping the internet site form inside the router. In upgrade the ISP changed the Analog modem, thats it.
My gateway is a firewall in clusture. things were working fine 1 hr back on old 128K

Shoeb,
Interface stats and config seems to be fine and it does not indicate any problem except that we rae not getting any input traffic on the serial 0 interface.
Could you please do a traceroute to any outside IP and see where it is dropping. Also try to shut/ no shut the interface along with a reboot of your modem.Try to get in confrence with ISP and trubleshoot it online with them.

2: then ping 213.42.36.Y from a system if ok then
3: ping 213.42.36.Y+1 ( ISP side IP )from a system if ok then
4: ping 213.42.20.20 from a system if ok then
5:then ping cisco.com if ok start browsing
do the same from the router also and give me a feedback
thanks

Hi Shoebwk,
There seems to be issue with your ISP routing, since there is no input traffic from your ISP side. Also confirm if you have changed the speed/clock setting in your modem also.
Regards
Gaurav
