After this point the router hangs. can you tell me if this is a hardware fault or can fix the issue?

Thank you.

Can you tell us what WICS, cables or USB devices you have installed on this router (if any)?  I would start troubleshooting this issue by first removing the WIC's and not using the USB port.  If the router is able to boot up, then replace the modules one at a time to isolate which is causing the issue.  In the past, we have seen devices connected to the USB port would cause this issue so start there first.  You can also break into rommon when the router is booting (press ctrl-break during the boot sequence) then change the configuration register to ignore the statup-config by using the command "confreg 0x2142".   Once you change the config register, boot the router by typing "i".  If the router boots while ignoring the config, then once it is up take a close look at the startup-config to see if you can tell what is wrong (again, concentrate on the location of the IOS image - is it on a USB or the internal Flash and any installed modules).

Hi and thank you for your reply.

I´ve changed the confreg as told but there is now difference. The router has no WICs intalled and the IOS is on a Comptact Flash Card.

Here is the output once again:

Hello,

Sorry you are still having problems.  It is possible that the router is defective, but before going that route lets try a couple more things.  Have you removed all cables and USB devices from the router then tried booting? Can you ensure the flash is readable in rommon by issing the "dir flash:" command?  Can you try a different compact flash and or IOS image?  If all of that fails, then I would suggest opening a case with the TAC.

Thanks

Tim

Hi Tim,

yeas, i´ve tried to do that but i almost think this is a hardware failure. From ROMMON i can see the content of the flashcard:

Readonly ROMMON initialized
rommon 1 > dir flash:
program load complete, entry point: 0x8000f000, size: 0xc100

Initializing ATA monitor library.......
Directory of flash:

2      15495268  -rw-     c1841-ipbasek9-mz.124-3j.bin

So i think the only thing i can do is open a TAC...:(

Thank you.
