Dear Forum users.

Hi there. I have a some trouble about interface overrun increasing issue.

Here is our router interface informations

2. G0/0 connecting internet router between ISP Router (operating BGP Protocol)

Questions

Q1. what is the input or output traffic-control?

Q2. what is the diffrence point unsupported, disable, XON etc?

Q3. How can i take a actions troubleshoot about it?

thanks.

Overruns usually happen when data is being received faster than the router can process that data.  This could be caused by features being used, such as NAT, Firewall, etc.

What features are you using on your router, or would you like to post the config?

Is it causing any actual errors, or have you just observed it?

What software version are you using on your 2911?

How much CPU is being consumed on the router?

Thanks Philip

Here is answer your questions.

1-1. we use BGP routing connecting between Service Provider Router.

1-2. unfortunately, i can't post our router configuration
2. router IOS version is 15.2(4)M4 version.

3. generally, router CPU using under the 5 percent

PS. we use same router, that connecting another SP. running BGP feature, same IOS version.

but it is not detect overrun count.

waiting your reply.

thanks

Hi

check this discussion https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/13796/overruns-counter-show-interfaces-command-output-increasing

Let's calculate a bit you have 198538830 packets input and 1899 are overrun, this is just 0,000956488% of total input packets. Are you still worried about this counter in your situation? :)

thanks for your reply.

Here is securities company. if you think it is small count, but we are very nervous.

You have nothing to worry about.
