Hi all,

Got a 3802i (8.3.102.0) and want to use it as an access-point to do site-survey.

I went through the document and got stuck in the below process

Step 7   To configure channel, TX power, and channel bandwidth for the radios, disable the radio first, make the changes and then re-enable it.

To change the 2.4GHz radio to channel 6, follow the steps below:

(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11b disable <ap name>
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11b channel <ap name> <ap name> 6
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11b enable <ap name>

To change the 2.4GHz radio Transmit Power to power level 3, follow the steps below:

(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11b disable <ap name>
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11b txPower <ap name> <ap name> 3
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11b enable <ap name>

To change the 5 GHz radio to channel 44, follow the steps below:

(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a disable <ap name>
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a channel <ap name> <ap name> 44
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a enable <ap name>
To change the 5 GHz radio Transmit Power to level 5, follow the steps below:
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a disable <ap name>
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a txPower <ap name> <ap name> 5
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a enable <ap name>
To change the 5 GHz radio channel width to 40MHz, follow the steps below:
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a disable <ap name>
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a chan_width <ap name> 40
(Cisco Controller)>config 802.11a enable <ap name>

the mobility express wlc doesnt recognize itself as an ap. Can this be achieved? 3802i acting as WLC and AP servicing clients (FAQ says yes) any help is appreciated.

I also keep getting the error message

Config not synced to APs since no AP is present

regards

I guess you are following the document Configuring Mobility Express for Site Survey using CLI

let's check

The following APs support sitesurvey capability

- AccessPoints – 3800 Series AireOS Release 8.3.111.0 and later

=> guess you need to start with an upgrade

I should have been blind to miss that one. Thanks for that.

cheers

for some reason the tftp upgrade fails saying incorrect tar file. I tried to upgrade to 8.5 and 8.8 both same problem.

when i keep the same image (8.3.102) and try to configure the master ap (using apciscoshell command from controller mode) it registers but capwap tunnel drops every 10 seconds and clients gets disconnected.
