Hi,

Can the management port on Router 4331 be used as a normal port for circuit connection etc?

Thanks!

short answer, no

Gigabit Ethernet Management Interface Overview

The router provides an Ethernet management port named GigabitEthernet0.

The Ethernet management port allows you to perform management tasks on the router. It is an interface that should not, and often cannot, forward network traffic, but can be used to access the router via Telnet and Secure Shell (SSH) to perform management tasks on the router. The interface is most useful before a router has begun routing, or in troubleshooting scenarios when other forwarding interfaces are inactive.

Thank you for your reply!

So it also can't be used for connecting to secondary router (HSRP)?

By default, probably not.

If it could be configured as a "normal" port (which is a big if), you're may also find it offers very little capacity and any substantial traffic on the port might overload the router.

Thank you!

Thank you!

You might get it to work, but given the caveats above (straight from the 4331 doc) why risk it?
I doubt if the TAC would be much help if you did.
