Hi all,

We have a cisco 7206 that is running bgp with only 128M of DRAM.BGP routes are taking up to 100M of the memo and CPU is running 99%. can I upgraded DRAM on the 7206 to 256M ? will upgrading the DRAM fix the problem ?

I have a handy 3660 with 256M DRAM.Can I swap a 7206/128M with a 3660/256M of DRAM ?

7206 has 4 serial links to the ISP.

I am not a BGP guru and we don't have any filters on BGP.

regards,

A mem upgrade should definitely help. Do you have any other stuff such as IPSEC runnin on the same router ? Attach a sh proc cpu when its 99% on your next post.

But the catch is, that NPE 150 does not support more than 128 MB. Atleast thats what I think after reading this link.

Your current 128 MB is made up on 4 32MB SIMM chips. You need atleast a NPE200 or higher to support 256Mb ram.

Meanwhile you can use the 3660 to support this configuration, make sure you got the right T1 interfaces on the 3660 to swap the T1s.
