I need to understand exactly how the "bandwidth per slot", as specified in the various supervisor's documentation, is calculated. For example, RSP720 allow for 40Gbps / slot - is that simply the sum of IN+OUT traffic on all interfaces in the slot, or is it rather forwarding capacity (for example, if the same traffic enters one interface and exits another in the same slot, it is only counted once)?
Is there any "show ... counters"-like command that can tell me whether a slot has reached this bandwidth limit?
Thank you.

Hi,
It is 40Gbps in, 40Gbps out. You can check the module fabric utilization using 'show platform hardware capacity fabric'

To add to Lei's info, to obtain the RSP720's 40 Gbps (duplex) per slot, you need to have CEF720 line cards. Also with the RSP720, and a 7613, only slots 9-13 support 40 Gbps (slots 1-6 support 20 Gbps). (NB: BTW, with the 7600-S series, and a sup2T, all slots support 80 Gbps, including the 7613-S.)
