cisco 837 ADSL cann't ping anything

Hello.

I have c837 and adsl line.

During connect to provider, he successfully authenticates me moreover I got public ip but can not ping anything.

gate#p 8.8.4.4

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 8.8.4.4, timeout is 2 seconds:
.....
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
gate#

I'm able ping outside ips for example public DNS server (8.8.4.4) only using extended ping like:

gate#p
Protocol [ip]:
Target IP address: 8.8.4.4
Repeat count [5]:
Datagram size [100]:
Timeout in seconds [2]:
Extended commands [n]: y
Source address or interface: Ethernet0
Type of service [0]:
Set DF bit in IP header? [no]:
Validate reply data? [no]:
Data pattern [0xABCD]:
Loose, Strict, Record, Timestamp, Verbose[none]:
Sweep range of sizes [n]:
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 8.8.4.4, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 192.168.172.1
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5)
gate#

Take a look at attached config please.

What's wrong with configuration?

Thanks!

Re: cisco 837 ADSL cann't ping anything

From the configuration, the following line will break that:

ip nat inside source static 192.168.172.2 interface Dialer1

You are forwarding everything from Dialer1 inbound towards 192.168.172.2 and vice versa on all ports and protocols which will break that outbound ping (you are configuring 1 to 1 static NAT on the Dialer1 interface).

I would not recommend that you configure that because you literally forward everything destined for Dialer1 interface IP towards 192.168.172.2.

Try to remove that command, clear the NAT translation and you should be able to ping out.

Hope that helps.
