Cisco 877 not attempting to negotiate or authenticate to isp

Hi, I have a cisco 877 that I setup in the UK as vpn to our cisco asa and got it all working. However this was using ppoa and I have now sent this to a remote office in Ireland where eircom have installed a DSL line using ppoe which is new to me.

If I issue a sh int DSL ATM 0 I see a showtime and the speed of the line, but that's all. If I run a debut PPP negotiate and debut PPP authentication I don't get any output, where do start, what pre-reqs does the router need as the ATM 0 is up as would expect something to appear in the debut.

PPPoE requires aal5snap and a different configuration.

The reason why you don't see anything is probably the wrong encapsulation.

configure as the example

use

term mon

debug ppp auth

debug ppp neg

int atm0

shut

then you re-enable the interface and you see the results
