All,

My ADSL connection keeps dropping.  The Motorola modem keeps losing sync.  Here is the output from my Cisco 881W that is connected to the modem:

000874: *Sep 18 16:43:08.151 PCTime: %DIALER-6-UNBIND: Interface Vi1 unbound from profile Di0
000875: *Sep 18 16:43:08.155 PCTime: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Virtual-Access1, changed state to down
000876: *Sep 18 16:43:09.151 PCTime: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Virtual-Access1, changed state to down

Does this suggest a problem with my telephone line causing the loss of sync or are there any clues in the above to suggest that maybe I have a config problem?  If you want me to provide more log or config data from the Cisco 881W, just let me know and I'll post it to this message.

Thanks for the help!

James

Why do you say "The Motorola modem keeps losing sync?"  Are the blinking lights on themodem indicating that?

Since the Cisco is the PPPOE endpoint (client), we are just the victims here.  A loss of DSL connection disrupts the PPPOE "server" at the service provider, and therefore will reset the PPPOE connection when the DSL comes back up which is what you are seeing.

The question is, why is the DSL circuit losing sync?  Are you using miocrofilters on other phone lines on that wire?  Are you using twiisted part cable to the wall?  Is the copper in good shape?

I had a similar issue a while ago. Think it was an issue with the ppp authentication

Post the config of your dialer interface.
