Good evening, I installed a C-NIM-4X card into a Cisco C8300-2N2S-6T router, when I looked at the status is said "booting" and I can't access it.
Can someone help with getting this card becoming active please?

Hello @kniederberger,
based on your output it seems that you inserted the C-NIM-4X module into the C-SM-NIM-ADPT carrier card. This does not work.
The C-NIM-4X module is supported only for operation in the embedded NIM slots.
This is a known limitation mentioned in the corresponding data sheet for these modules (look at the installation section):
So you need to swap your NIM-modules accordingly and then all modules should come up.

- Attach a console to the router and scrutinize the complete boot process ?

Thank you Marce 1000, I tried another module out of the box, and even on a different router, and they both produced the same result.

Hello Jens,
Thanks for pointing that out! I completely missed that in that 21-page document. Unfortunately, this is a live system with a few remote branches connected to it so finding an opportunity to have downtime and re-arrange my interfaces/config will be difficult, but it has to happen. I'll let you know how it works out.
Thanks again!

That was the problem. I was able to schedule some downtime to move the modules around to different slots and re-configure the interfaces. The module is now working correctly. Thanks again!

Glad to hear its working now. So please mark my above post as 'solution' so that this topic gets marked as solved. Thanks!
