Cisco IOS NAT

In which order is NAT checked in IOS?  My first thought is that it is checked from top to bottom in the configuration order. Is this correct?

Thanks

Hello,

Indeed, that has been my experience although I do not recall seeing this confirmed in an official document. But I can confirm that to my knowledge, when a new NAT translation entry is to be created in the NAT translation table, the router checks the ip nat commands in the order they appear in the configuration. Once the translation entry is created, it is used to translate the packets (the ip nat commands do not need to be consulted anymore).

Best regards,

Peter
