I have a 7204VXR and I purchased two Cisco PA-GE 7206VXR 7204VXR Gigabit Ethernet Module. I plugged them in but I am not seeing them as an interface (show ip interface brief). It doesn't appear that they are being recognized or powering on. Do I need to enable these in config?
Thanks

Hello Andrew,
your router has an NPE 225 with already 3 PA FE.
also the document we are looking provides a table for NPE-225 and the PA-GE is not listed there
So I'm afraid you would need a better NPE
Hope to help

Maybe you've exceeded the allowed Bandwidth Points?

Hello Andrew,
post a show c7200
depending on the NPE model, and if there is an I/O controller the use of PA-GE is possible.
It might be possible that NPE-G1 and NPE-G2 that have built-in GE ports and that can work without the I/O controller (they include one on the board) do not support PA GE.
this is my guess on a C7200 with NPE-G1 or NPE-G2 you should use only the built in GE ports, a PA GE would have worse performance going on the bus(es) as explained in the link provided by Leo
Hope to help
Giuseppe

Thanks for the help. Here is the show c7200...
Also, I found on the the following link this... I agree with leo that I may have exceeded the bandwidth points.
What are my options?

Hello Andrew,
unfortunately it is not possible to understand the type of NPE, may you add a sh version?
the document you have linked says that BW calculation points for 1 PA GE is 400 points.
It is not clear however, if there are special cases/combinations.
Hope to help
Giuseppe

Thank you Giuseppe, that's what my conclusion was as well. I will look at getting a better NPE.
Thanks again...
