Clock rate on serial interface and carrier signals

Hello everyone,

Is it correct that clock rate on serial interface determines the carrier signal frequency and it is proportional based on the modulation?

Any idea,

Thanks

Hello

the clock rate is set by the ISPs (usually dce devices) This controls rate which your dte connection will run at

An ISP modem will set modulation and advertise it clock rate

In most cases your should not have to worry about the clock rate as your serial interface would mostly be a dte connection to a modem/dce device which will receive its clock rate from

Thanks Paul for your anwser, but my question was about "carrier signal frequency" which carries bits to the destination. Each link has one or more carrier signals depending on the type of multiplexing.

Any other idea?
