I am migrating a group of modems from old Cisco routers to a 3845 Router with HWIC-16A card. In the old routers it was all serial interfaces & encapsulation was either PPP or not mentioned. In the new router the interfaces are coming up as
interface Async 0/0/0 etc.
Do I need to just give the IP address below this or anything more? On checking documents under IOS Dial Configuration Guide, there are async mode dedicated/interactive etc.Do I need to use these commands? Also, there are lines coming up as line 0/0/0 0/0/15 beneath line aux. Do I need to configure anything here. Again, I am using a HD-CAB-KIT cable for this connection, when I connected to the ethernet port of a modem, the physical and line protocol was showing down and down. Do I need to make some changes in the modem for correcting this?
