Console via aux port on Cisco891F Router

Hi,

I am trying to console to another router connected via a aux port. Following is my setup

R1(aux port)------------>R2(console port)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

On R1

following is the aux port configs

line aux 0
 modem InOut
 no exec
 transport preferred telnet
 transport input all
 transport output all

interface Loopback1
ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.255

sho line output

i try to telnet into R2 on loopback1 address port 2001

Following is the result

R1#telnet 1.1.1.1 2001
Trying 1.1.1.1, 2001 ...
% Connection refused by remote host

Please check to see if i have missed anything.

i also note that the console port is also the aux port on Cisco891F

Hello,

assuming that the physical connection works (a rollover cable, or the blue cable that comes with the routers), make sure that the console port is configured with the 'exec' command.

Can you post the configuration you have for the console port ?
