COPP policy question: What kind of 'non-ip' traffic will hit the 'class-default'?

i have created a QoS policy that includes the following catch-all policy:

ip access-list extended ACL-COPP-CATCH-ALL
permit tcp any any
permit udp any any
permit icmp any any
permit ip any any

In this article it specifies that the default class is "Non-IP traffic, which may need to be rate limited."

What kind of non-IP traffic would be hitting the device and being directed to the control plane?

Hello,

It is CPPr .

In ACL-COPP-CATCH-ALL acl you are already matching all ip , tcp , udp and ICMP traffic.

Anyways , i understand your query is "what kindly of traffic will hit default class then" .

Non-ip traffic = eg , arp , l2 broadcast and other layer 2 traffic which needs to be processed by CPU.

Hope that helps.
