Dialer interface doesnt support dialer map command???

greetings to all,

I have an 876 router with ISDN as a backup (in a dialer profile interface)

I am facing the following issue. I try to configure 'dialer map' from interface dialer0 and the router doesnt support it, i.e. it doesnt have it as a command! It can only understand 'dialer string' commands which are inadequate since i have two peers to communicate...

I can only configure them through bri interface but since i am using dialer profile i know that this is not correct.

Any suggestions? If i configure them in bri int will it work?

many thanks,

themis

Hello Themis,

actually multiple dialer string commands can be supported

by using also ppp authentication you should be able to discriminate between the two peers even without the dialer map command

the real problem is you would like to route differently to the peers.

For redundancy you can still use multiple dialer string

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hello Themis,

I still prefer dialer map command when supported as I explained in the other thread.

However, just in these days a collegue of mine has prepared an 800 with IDN using multiple dialer string commands and multiple username passwords pairs and it tested it with good results when the objective is just redundancy for the default route.

The real trouble comes when a different routing would be required to the different peers.

I'm afraid this is not possible without using the dialer map command

Hope to help

Giuseppe
