DMVPN & bgp

HELLO

in DMVPN configuration (regardless of which phase)

for eBGP peering should we use from Tunnel interfaces ?

firstly we should  established peering then  routing table(prefixes by Network command) exchanged .

because Tunnel will be created with it's own ip (first tunnel created then start to send Private prefixes such as Loopbacks)

so more logical is eBGP peering use from Tunnel interfaces which defined on Hub and spokes

Hi,

Yes, DMVPN will only work if your tunnel communication is established (HUB and Spoke) so definitely you need configure routing as BGP with tunnel interfaces.

Is BGP is underlay or overlay protocol? If you want to use an overlay then yes, you need enable BGP on tunnel protocol. If BGP is enabled as underlay protocol then you must think about another routing protocol or share your current configuration.

thanks for your reply

and thanks for asking extra Question for completing it

as it is a Test purpose in simulator so Hub and Spokes reach each others NBMA add directly via static routing (Underlay)

so my query was about Overlay and as you mentioned Yes it is used for Overlay

so i have to create Tunnel interface first then use its IP for eBGP peering .

What is the use case here, if it is all internal and you do not have public cloud requirement, i would suggest to stick with IGP.( again based on the requirement).
