DMVPN masters Project-High availability tests?

Hi

Im working on my masters degree project and its basically demonstrating the options to increase network availability and fault tolerance from the base DMVPN phase 3 design of 1HUB/1CLOUD (with no tinkering with things like hold timers).

Ive worked out the basic idea of multi HUB/Cloud setups but i was wanting to know some real world faults to simulate that happen, other than the standard "some idiot dug through the ISP Link".

Thanks

Stuart

Hi

With a DMVPN solution, in some case scenario, you want to track reliability of the wan links (packet loss, jitter...) and so remove that link from the dmvpn if it is higher than thresholds you've defined. Obviously, this will work better if using multi cloud dmvpn and so multi isp link.
Also, what you can show a simple case where a site lose its primary link and so has to route using second tunnel.
Some use cases are a site have to connect to 2 hubs and you avoid having both tunnels up the same time, we use clustering so 1 is up and the other will come up when the primary hub doesn't respond anymore.

Thanks
Francesco

Hi,

We can use multiple options as monitoring jitter, drops, the response time between two endpoints. If you have two different tunnels than you can also divide the load as real-time traffic such as IP-Telephony or any critical application moved over the one tunnel and remaining traffic moved over the other tunnel etc.

Deepak Kumar,
