DSL controller default route ?

Hello just a basic question regarding when you use a router such as an 867VAE for ADSL connectivity via the CLI rather than using a preconfigured home use modem.

So you configure the DSL controller with details specified by the ITSP. Then how do you point traffic out to the internet from your LAN ?

Do you just set up a default route pointing to the ADSL controller interace you just configured ?

THanks for confirmation.

You can do this ie.

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

but a better more effecient way is to use the next hop IP ie. the IP of the ISP router interface connecting your to router -

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
