Hi all,

How we can automatically move the traffic from a flapping link to backup link and move it back from backup to primary when primary is stable ?

Using IP SLA is a good solution however is the flaps do not occur while IP SLA test the link it is very possible for IP SLA to miss the flapping. All depends on the frequency your IP SLA test connectivity. Too often and you risk false positives, to long and you will miss the event.

If I have to use IP SLA I prefer an HTTP operation since it establishes a TCP connection compared to the normal ICMP operation.

I would however, depending on the situation try to rely in BFD or IP event dampening.

However be sure to address the reason for link flapping.

You can use IP SLA monitor and EEM for this kind of thing :

HI mufurnival,

Thanks for your replay...can we determine whether a link is flapping or not with the help of IPSLA ? ofcource we can find the link is up or down with the help of IPSLA and track command, But what about the flapping link ?
