File-locking errors on Office 2010 documents

We are experienceing intermittent issues where a user (seems to be WindowsXP) will try to save a Microsoft Office 2010 document and gets an error message saying the file is locked by another user.  They have the file open and no other user is involved.

We seem to get this on two of our sites where we have Cisco WAAS devices for domain control and acceleration (forgive me I cannot provide detailed technical data).  In fairness we have other sites where this issue is not happening.

Technical team is struggling to identify the root cause.

Is anyone aware of this happening with WAAS infrastructure?

Hi Alan,

We had this issue and we don't use Cisco WAAS. If I recall it was something inherently wrong with office 2010 or windows 7/2008.

It definitely wasn't a network issue. I'll see if I can find out what the root cause was.
