I have two computers each connected to different routers and both the routers connected via internet.

I can ping from one computer to other.

But files are not getting transferred via ftp.

FTP server is successfully created. but while giving the command from second computer ftp <first comp ip address> it is showing the error as connection timed out.

Please help to resolve it.

Hello,

what are you using as FTP server and FTP client ? Post the running configs of both routers...

Hello

Do you have any access-list on the rtrs or possible a fw on the pcs or in path between denying ftp.

From what you describe, the two most likely issues might be one, or more, firewalls that permit the ping and its reply but not FTP.

Or, since Internet is involved, likely so it NAT/PAT.  FTP is a bit more complex to run through a NAT/PAT (possibly two of them).

FTP also supports two modes (see https://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html), PASV mode might be needed to work.
