I have a router and switch configured to access the internet and would like to add this ASA 5510. Any advice on how to add this piece like what's the best practice? Should it be connected to the network through the router or switch or both?

Hi,

Terminate the internet connection at the router using point-to-point IP. Connect the other interface of the router with the firewall using public IP. Configure a static route from the router to the ISP. Configure NAT at the Firewall. Connect the inside interface of the firewall using Private IP block with the LAN switch.

Thanks guys for your help I appreciate it. Ok based on your suggestions I have configure the following setup:

<<<ISP>>>>G0/0<<<<Router>>>>G0/2<<<<E0/0<<<<ASA>>>>E0/2<<<FE0/1>>>Switch

My Router Configs are attached.

hi,

that depends on the ISP hand off.

if it's ethernet, you can do:

ISP > ROUTER > ASA > SWITCH
