Help with Configuring a 2811 Cisco Router for use with ISP

Hello!

So I found this 2811 Cisco router & wanted to hook it up in my house to use with my existing network equipment.

I thought that it would be pretty straight-forward, but I can't seem to get it to work properly. I've looked online to find the correct commands, but none of them seem to be working right.

After messing about with it for some time now, I've just erased the nvram, & reloaded the router until I get some proper info from you nice folks!

I'm not sure what info you may need in regards to how the router needs to be configured, but I'll provide what is necessary upon request.

Thanks!

Hehe, yeah I understand.

Thanks for your help with this one!

Hmm...with that updated config you provided, my PC is still saying limited or no connectivity.

Running-config is basically the same + the update you just provided.

Any other show command outputs you want to see?

Ok, so with that put in the router, my computer still isn't connecting to the internet.

Any ideas?

Hello,

what brand/type is your modem ? Do you know if you have PPPoA or PPPoE from the ISP ?

It's a Motorola SBG6580. It has integrated WiFi but I'm just using it as a cable modem right now. As far as PPPoE I don't believe I do. My ISP is TWC if that helps.

Hello,

connecting your 2811 to one of the ports on the Motorola should work, I just went through the user manual for the SBG6580. You will have to reload the modem, not sure if you have done that.

Is the interface connected to the SBG6580 showing up/up on the Cisco side ?

Yep it is. Both of my ports (Fe0/0 for ISP side & Fe0/1 for my LAN)

I haven't reloaded my modem yet though. I'm not sure if something is blocking the connection on the F0/1 port or not.

The router obtained an IP address via DHCP from the cable modem & all just fine.

Rather peculiar this one...

If the router pulls an IP address, you are on the right track. Can you post the config you have on your router ? There might be something in there that is causing the LAN not being able to connect...
