Hello,
I have a Cisco 867VAE connected via poe to plusnet fiberoptic broadband.
So the router operates fine; howver i noticed that my speed was not the 60MB i should be getting.
So i pluged my laptop in direct to the POE interface and straight away i got the 60MB.
I then pluged in the plusnet provided router and again i got the correct speed.
Anything i could disable or check on this Cisco router ?
kind regards

Hi Lewis,
Can you post your config?
Also, have a read though this thread:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/4029094
...it's been a while since I used a Cisco SOHO router, but if your symptoms are similar to those highlighted in the above thread, then the 800 series routers really do have poor inter-vlan routing!
cheers,
Seb.

867 is very wrong for for fiber service. First, it has not enough performances. Second, it is made for DSL not Ethernet. So you will need to use somethign else.

what router would you recomend for this ?
I dont really care for price but smaller sizes are better.

A 2901 ISR is a 1U device that would provide the throughput you require. But the noise it generates will be significantly more than your 867!

Guys,
Are we saying the 867VAE is not suitable for high speed ADSL/VDSL? I use VDSL 40 down 5 up. Is this router going to be able to handle? If not, why did Cisco release a VDSL capable router that can't reach such speeds?
Cheers,
M
