How do local providers transmission networks work?

Hi all

We have a global provider for our mpls, in some countries they use third party local providers to the last mile.

we have our CE router on some sites that plugs into a third party router on site, sometimes sdsl, which then links it to the PE, our CE sees the PE as directly connected, how are they achieving this L2 connectivity over sdsl etc?

a L2 transport service of ethernet frames can be implemented in many ways .

The simplest one is to use multiple 802.1Q VLAN tags like in 802.1Q tunneling.

The external VLAN-ID means your MPLS provider and the internal VLAN-ID means your specific CE node and link.

With IP DSLAM that have GE or tengiga uplinks this is the way to implement wholesale services the local provider creates the connection between the CE and the PE using two VLAN tags added to each bridged frame.
