Hi All
Can anyone tell me in a nutshell how ISP's get ADSL into the home, do they use ATM frames to the DSLAM, does the DSLAM then convert them to ethernet ? how about the adsl routers authentication etc ?
what kind of devices are used?
cheers

Depends on the provider.
Most of the ISP in next generation have upgraded their infra to DWDM Fibre to Building or near by POP for that area.
From there depends on Services you buy from them - FTTH or DSL.
FTTH - FTTH device @home and your wifi/Ethernet.
DSL - ADSL/VDSL router device @home and your wifi/Ethernet.

how about from the home to the cab? and from cab to the pop ?
does the cab to pop use dwdm for aggregating more bandwidth? or resiliency ?
cheers
