How does CRS linecard handles control packets differently than data packets?
In CRS, data traffic is handled by linecard with their populated FIB table and forwarding the data traffic accordingly. I wanted to know how does the linecard programmed in such a way that it can handle control packets differently i.e forwarding control packets to central CPU for processing while forwarding data traffic in LC. Below are my doubts when the CRS linecard receives OSPF LSA packets
1. How does CRS Linecards identifies the packet ingressed is control packet?
2. At which stage of linecard (i.e IngraessPSE or ingressQ) it identifies the packet and how does it get forwarded to CPU for further processing?
3. How does the CPU recognizes the packet and process it?
4. How does the control packet is again handed over to line card again for further forwarding and on which stage its been handed over (i.e EgressPSE or EgressQ)?
I wanted to know the bits and pieces of CRS forwarding when it comes to control and data packets. Can someone please explain this with examples?
