I have an installation of a new SMU on an ASR9k. Unfortunately, a previous install from a remote FTP source has stalled at 1%. The router is currently running v4.2.1, and the stalled installation was for a 4.2.0 SMU.
Anyway, when I do a "show install request" from the admin context, this is what I get:
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:router1.usa(admin)#show install request
Fri Apr 12 12:44:18.237 UTC
Install operation 88 '(admin) install add source
/ftp://user:*********@ftpsite.com/images/cisco/asr9k/4.2.1/*********@ftpsite.com/images/cisco/asr9k/4.2.1/ asr9k-px-4.2.0.CSCtl84822.pie synchronous'
started by user 'adminluser' via CLI at 17:11:37 UTC Tue Apr 09 2013.
The operation is 1% complete
The operation cannot be aborted.
And when I try to abort the job directly, I get the expected response:
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:router1.usa(admin)#install abort 88
Fri Apr 12 12:38:31.967 UTC
Error: Cannot proceed with 'install abort' because the install operation is 'install add' which is not an abortable operation.
Might be a syntax error, or whatever. Either way, this install needs to be aborted so that I can move on to others. Of course, I'd like to do this non-interruptively.
Any ideas?

OK, ended up doing a process restart on the router:
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:router1.usa#process restart instdir
Fri Apr 12 13:28:15.533 UTC
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:router1.usa#admin
Fri Apr 12 13:28:19.814 UTC
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:router1.usa(admin)#show install request
Fri Apr 12 13:28:24.903 UTC
There are no install requests in operation.
And this cleared the way to move forward.
