Solved: how to check 16GB memory on asr1002X

We purchase a asr1002X with 16GB memory but after install 4GB*4 in to asr the show version still appear 8GB memory.

how to check 16GB on asr1002X?

did you install all 4 modules at the same time ? Do all 4 modules have the same part number ?

Hello,

I would remove two of the modules and check if memory is still the same, then insert the ones you removed, and remove the two other ones. This way, you can at least check if they all work.

For platforms that use IOS-XE, show ver (unlike IOS) shows physical DRAM which is the total DRAM installed in this router, in addition to what is available (assigned actually) for IOS to use.

You will never find a situation where the physical DRAM matches what is allocated for IOS's use.

From your example, physical DRAM is

cisco ASR1002-X (2RU-X) processor (revision 2KP) with 6801461K/6147K bytes of memory.

32768K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
16777216K bytes of physical memory.

Total DRAM is 16777216K. Of this, IOS has been assigned 6801461K for processor pool and and 6147K for IO. Inspect the output of show run | sec redundancy

Here, if you see <mode sso> is configured, you have two software instances of IOS-XE running. If you change this to <mode none>, then you will see the allocation for IOS (processor pool) go up significantly but still be under total/physical DRAM.
