How to fix flash error?

Sabby0115

Hello Everone

Couple of days back I just issue a CMD erase flash on my router to  remove old IOS so I can install new IOS & then the problem started. I tried to install new IOS via XMODEM & then after via TFTP dnld both ended with an error. So i stuck in rommon mode.

Then after I removed Compact Flash from router & formatted it on my xp machine (using card reader) in FAT format then I copied a new IOS into Compact Flash, this worked & booted the router from IOS. I thought that’s it, everything looks fine, I started configuring the router & it took me while then I saved configuration using WR cmd and after I reload the router. After reload there was no configuration on router it boots like, it is booted first time asking me if I wana configure press yes/no

Now no solution is coming to the way. If anyone can help me will be highly appreciated.

I am attaching error & boot process of my router in *.txt format also.

Regards & Thanks in Advance

Sabby

What is the config-registry value?  It should be 0x2102.

Many Thanks for the reply...

use "confreg 0x2101"  in rommon mode e.g:  rommon>confreg 0x2101

then boot the ios then try to format the flash

The Flash mem settings is confreg 0x2102, see the link below

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps133/products_tech_note09186a008022493f.shtml#set-config

And/or you can go through resetting Confreg via the Cisco menu

Confreg

Go through a bunch of questions

On the boot option <2>

Also, remember you can point the boot-up statement to a specific IOS image in Rommon and in the IOS. Not sure, when you re-downloaded the image that you re-installed the one you had before or you grab a newer version..

do the follow

dir flash<---This verifies Rommon can see all the internal and external slots. Hopefully, Flash is detected and it shows what's on the card

boot flash:c3845-adventerprisek9-mz.124-10.bin <---Or whatever the name of your IOS

i <---syncs the changes into Rommon
