Hello All,
I was wondering if there was a way to test your LAN from a device connected to switch A to a device connected to switch B. We have a Cisco environment and I was wondering if there were some tools such as JPERF/IPERF or something else to configure to check this. I am looking forward to the feedback.
Kind regards,
Y4ssine

Hi there,
Take a look at IP SLA for testing of certain metrics:

For testing of bandwidth across links, as you have found iperf is an excellent tool.
If you have a heap of money to throw at testing you could invest in some hardware made by Ixia, which will simulate all types of network traffic and measure its performance across your network.

Hello Yassine,
using iperf or netperf is a good way to verify performance.
However, when you perform a TCP throughput the results will never be 100% of line rate as there is TCP session setup 3way handshake before sending traffic.
Hope to help
