We have a typical Hub and Spoke Frame Relay Network (FRATM IWF). We are looking to implement compression, but are not looking to create a bunch of IPSec tunnels. Our FR hub routers are 7200/G1s. Any recommendations for implementing compression without the VAM/IPSec tunnels that are required?

Compression Service Adapter (CSA) may be used to provide the highest level of compression performance. The CSA supports simultaneous STAC compression and decompression with Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) and Frame Relay encapsulations and independent, full-duplex compression and decompression circuitry. This ensures high performance in full-duplex environments

CSA has been EoL'd for several years now, and is not supported on the G1.

Any other idears? We're considering replacing the 2 72s with 4 3825s w/AIM/compr4s.

If it is a hub and spoke topology in a FRF.8(fratm IWF) I expect ATM to be on the hub side and frame-relay at the spoke side. But, you mentioned that "Our FR hub routers are 7200/G1s " which is bit weird to me. Are you having Frame-relay at the HUB and bunch of spoke routers with ATM attached to ISP? ATM has a very limited compression function ( RTP compression ). If you have not seen the following URL it may help.

ATM @ the hub side, true FR on the braches. Just meant that our hub routers are 7200/G1s.
