Hey guys,
In the below diagram, I have AS-prepending (for 8.8.8.8) in R5 for outbound routes to R2. So, R5-R1 will be the better path.
But R2 does not advertise that route (8.8.8.8) to either of iBGP neighbor R1 or R3. Unless I remove the next-hop self between them or I shutdown the iBGP between R2-R1.
Here in R3 you can see the update from R2 when I removed the nexthop-self between R2-R1 or I shutdown their iBGP:
But as the next hop will not be available, if I return the next-hop-self or even put a static route for that nexthop, then R3 or R1 does not receive the update:
Any idea why this happens?
