Hi All,
In our Environmet we have 2901 Current Ios Version is Version 15.3(3)M5
As management got another fiber leased line(Single Mode) for which i have install SFP slot part number HWIC-1GE-SFP,
after installation of HWIC-1GE-SFP in router the following slot is showing
GigabitEthernet0/3/0 is down, line protocol is down
Please advice.

Not enough info to warrant any investigation.
Exactly what troubleshooting effort was done?

Hi Leo,
I have tried to swap the HWIC-1GE-SFP Module to others 2901 router Version 15.2(3)T1. The module is working. As I compared both routers, the difference is the IOS Version. Do we need to downgrade the ios?

I dont think the IOS should be a problem based on the data sheet.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/2800-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/product_data_sheet0900aecd8016be8d.html
The only thing i would worry is the configuration on the interface or the backplane of the slot on the chassis or the SPF being used.
could you please let me know what SFP part id you are using. If I am not mistaken, you should be using GLC-LH-SM part id.
Also, please share the configuration on the interface.
Thanks
Vinit

Console into the router and reboot the router. I want to see the entire boot-up process.
Also, post the complete output to the command "sh inventory".
I think I've got an idea: I believe the card is installed into a slot reserved for VOICE EHWIC only.
