Installing Cisco Configuration Professional 3.5.3 on C892

Hello guys,

I got a few questions and hope to find someone who can help me out a little.

I recently started working for a new company and need to work with Cisco now.

We have got a C892 Router and a 2960X-Series switch. I need to do some configurations on the C892 but because I am not used to the whole CLI thing, there are some questions:

Can the CCP be an option for me?

Is it possible to install CCP on a running machine that is already configured?

Can CCP also be used for switches?

In the past I was working with Unifi, HP and Netgear and they all can be configured through telnet-menus or webinterfaces. I already activated the https-server on the C892!

Best regards and thanks for helping me out.

Daniel

hello @daniel86

you can install the CCP, however, you must learn how to use CLI, it's not always possible to use graphic interface and you will face problems later; also, it's a security concern to have http server enabled.

Hello @lespejel

Yes i would only activate http server when I need to do some changes.

Right now I need some more help. I could manage to "/xtract" all the files to "flash:/CCP" by using an USB-Stick.

I did:

"ip http path flash:/CCP"

but it is still the same http landing page as it was before. No CCP just the standard built in page.

"sh run" showed that the path was corectly set to "flash:/CCP", also all the files have been extracted correctly!

Did I forget something?

The next thing is... I saw that always when I turn on the http server...stranger ip`s are trying to login, but without success so far.

Is there a way to only accept connections from inside our network and if yes, how to do this?

How can I change the password for the http user?

Thanks for your help!

Nobody? :(

hi, that's why I recommend to learn CLI instead depending on graphic UI; you can set the connections control with a standard ACL using ip http access-class [ACL]; and your password is the one defined with username [user] password [password].

take a look into configuration guide for http server:
